Re: LGA airport to PENN ST ......... - 18 years ago
Winston... For $2, you can get the M60 airport bus which goes from LaGuardia to the Upper West Side. If you buy a subway/bus MetroCard at the airport, which I think you can do, there will be a free transfer from the M60 bus to the Astoria Blvd stop on the N train. If you're not bringing a lot of bags, the bus/subway combination is not bad, although it will take a lot more time than a cby heypaul - Ask a New Yorker :
A Question for Non New Yorkers: Who Do You Think of as Mr/Ms New York? - 18 years ago
As a life-long resident of Brooklyn, I kind of get sick to my stomach when Donald Trump is heralded as Mr. New York. But that's my problem. Anyway, I thought I'd turn the tables on non New Yorkers and ask them the question: Do They Think of Any Particular Person as Representing New York?by heypaul - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: greyhound station in relation to manhattan - 18 years ago
I happen to be a Greyhound Bus and subway buff. There is a Greyhound schedule leaving Detroit at 10 PM, which takes about 15 hours to reach New York. The bus runs through to New York, without having to change buses. If you're riding with your boyfriend, you should feel safe and not too bored. It's an overnight run, so you'll probably be able to get some sleep after a couple ofby heypaul - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: where can i find this film? - 18 years ago
This is a long shot. Could you have the title wrong? There's a move called "Blackboard Jungle" which took place in a troubled vocational high school. It's not clear where it's set. But it starred Sidney Poitier, Glenn Ford and Vic Morrow. It was made at least 40 years ago and opened with "Rock Around the Clock" playing.by heypaul - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Salisbury Hotel or Hotel Belleclaire - 18 years ago
"Which in your opinion is in a better location for shops/food?" If you want to know what I would do, I would choose the Belleclaire, because it's 2 blocks from Fairway Supermarket, where I would buy their prepared foods to eat. Although if you go there when it's busy and crawling with obnoxious self-absorbed people, you may leave there hating everyone. Seriously, the Beby heypaul - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Sunnyside recommendations - 18 years ago
Kelly... There's a book "Nosh New York" written by Myra Alperson which is "The Food Lover Guide to New York City's Most Delicious Neighborhoods". It's published by St. Martin's in paperback for $16.95. Myra Alperson gives walking and eating tours all over the city and has compiled her experiences and recommendations in this book. For Sunnyside she has abby heypaul - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Does anyone know of a GOOD exterminator?? - 18 years ago
Being a slob when it comes to picking up crumbs and leaving dishes in the sink, I had quite a few roaches coming for dinner and snacks until 2 years ago. I never had the building exterminator come in, because I didn't like the smell of the chemicals they squirt. Anyway, I used Combat Gel, which I applied to the area. I rarely have seen a roach since. The gel has a brown greasy look, bby heypaul - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Kings Highway Brooklyn - 18 years ago
I just read your original post. Your Kings Highway is now served by the Q and B trains as you figured out in a later post. I would call the area Kings Highway. The Highway around the subway station was and is a main street. It is a safe area. Wendy's is no longer. Before Wendy's there was Dubrow's cafeteria, one of the last cafeterias in Brooklyn. I lived a couple of sby heypaul - Ask a New Yorker :
