Re: Ask a New York Traffic Lawyer - 2 years ago
Sorry to hear about your misfortune while in New York. You need to check with a PA traffic lawyer as to whether these offense count as minor traffic ticket offenses there. We can only provide guidance regarding New York law. If you want to fight these tickets, you can retain a NY traffic lawyer who can appear for you. Good luck! Re: Heading Over to Queens - 4 years ago
Forest Hills is also a great spot in Queens, and with express trains from 74th St/Broadway, you can get there fast. Austin Street has a lot of good shops (even a Target) and restaurants. I went to Agora Taverna last night, a greek restaurant, which was just as good as any I've been to in Astoria. I had a really good shrimp/tomato/feta cheese dish which was delicious, and my friend loved hby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Heading Over to Queens - 4 years ago
I second about Cote Soleil - it's really good. Skillman/50th St. Pretty reasonable, too: had dinner for three complete for $180 (that is with tip). The bouillabaisse is really yummy and is on the menu each day, and they have specials too. Escargot appetizer is recommended. All french staff.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: First or Firsts, restaurant near the corner of 1st & 1st - 4 years ago
there is a place called one and one, on first ave and first street, it's still there. Also in the neighborhood is another great place I just discovered: Taveran Kyclades, a greek restaurant on 1st ave just south of 14th st. It is the best greek restaurant I've been to. I thought before my favorite greek place was souvlaki GR on 53rd St, but this place was much better!by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Broadway show - 5 years ago
there are a lot of good options for off-broadway shows, too. I just saw one the other night called Desperate Measures, at the New World Stages (50th St between 8th and 9th Ave - same place where Avenue Q has been playing for a while). It was very good! It was a funny story that everyone can enjoy, and the theater itself is so much nicer and more comfortable than most of the Broadway theaters.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: spare ribs and steaks - 7 years ago
I had the yummiest barbeque last night at John Brown's in Long Island City, so if you're looking for ribs, go there. Also brisket, pulled pork, etc. All totally delicious.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Sunnyside, Queens, NY - 8 years ago
new restaurant in Sunnyside! It's called Sole Luna and I'm already obsessed with their eggplant parmesan (which by the way is only $10.50). it's on Queens Blvd and 40th St, opened a couple of months ago (early summer 2015). it's run by some actual Italian people who live in the neighborhood, and it's a great little spotby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: New York visit. - 8 years ago
yes, easy to get to brooklyn. you'll be on 10th ave, and you will need to walk over to 8th ave to get the subway. depends where you want to go in brooklyn...lots of the trains will go to brooklyn. I suggest a visit to brooklyn heights - you would take the A train to High St.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Long Island City - 8 years ago
Long Island City is a great neighborhood to stay in if you are visiting, so is Sunnyside. For lunch in Long Island City try Brooks Restaurant at 2428 Jackson Ave. there are tons of bars and restaurants and good things to do, and it is very close to Manhattan.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: what to do in Soho, that is not shopping - 8 years ago
there is a good restaurant in SoHo called Tartinery that you could try, I went the other night and loved it. 209 Mulberry St, right around the corner from a great bar, the Spring St Lounge. And for dessert go on Spring St to Rice to Riches, yum.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

hi Tonya, I moved here to NYC when I was 23 too - and was working as a receptionist/secretary at that time. All worked out really well for me, and I wouldn't do anything differently. Good luck to you!by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Just wanted to post about an excellent bakery I just discovered (maybe I'm a little behind!). It's called Maison Kayser and it's sooo yummy: there are several locations in New York City, try one!by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: First time in NYC, suggestions/food. (BUDGET) - 9 years ago
If I were you I would try using priceline for a hotel - I did recently and got a great deal. You could end up getting a better hotel than you think you can afford. Otherwise, why not get a hotel over in Long Island City or Sunnyside, Queens? It's a very quick ride in to manhattan, on the 7 subway line. There is a La Quinta, a Quality Inn, and many more, and it will be way less money thanby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: new york with kids - 9 years ago
if you're looking for something to do with kids in new york, go to the american museum of natural history, definitely. I can't believe that I have lived here for 17 years and just visited for the first time yesterday...it was fun! The IMAX movie was great, so was the planetarium. You can spend the entire day in there, and it's fun for kids and adults.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
dance in brooklyn - 9 years ago
this past saturday night I headed out to Gowanus, Brooklyn (took the F/G train to Carroll St and then walked about 15 min through a pretty cool neighborhood) to a place called the Bell House, and went to their event called The Rub, which they have monthly - a "dance party". See It was pretty fun, and people had a great time. They offer tickets on line the day before the event, andby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: tattoo in new york - 10 years ago
I've had two done at Three Kings and was/am happy with the place It's in Greenpoint, Brooklyn...either take the G train to Nassau or the L train to Bedford Ave and it's a short, easy walk from there (and you'll like the neighborhood too) if you don't want to go to brooklyn for some reason, I hear that this place is also really good: Have fun!by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Where to live in NYC - 10 years ago
for $1500 per month, I think you can forget about living by NYU. But that\'s OK, there are plenty of other good areas to check out. What about Woodside or Sunnyside, Queens? That\'s where I live, and it\'s a nice area, and I\'m sure you could find a place in your budget. Astoria in Queens is also a good option for you. Good luck.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Ethnic Eats in Queens - 10 years ago
the other night my husband and I tried out Tito Rad\'s, which is on queens blvd and 49th St. It\'s a filipino place, and some filipino friends directed us there, saying it\'s the best filipino food in the city. It can definitely be put in the \'cheap eat\'s category - we got out of there for $57 with appetizers and main dishes and cokes (no alcohol). It was interestby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
MoMA Rain Room - 10 years ago
I went to the Rain Room at MoMA yesterday - an exhibit which will be there until the end of July 2013. Such hype! I am a member at the MoMA so could get in a special line for members, an early access line, and I still waited an amazing three hours (!) to get in to see it. Poor \"general admission\" people wait for 6 hours, I heard. It\'s not worth the wait, people. Don\'tby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Great Reasonable NY restaurants - 11 years ago
....and more for those of us in Western Queens.... Sidetracks in Sunnyside actually had a really good Easter dinner, and I\'ve seen their other holiday menus and they always looked good...tried them the other day and was happy! $38 per person for three courses, all good choices and huge servings. I had Salmon and mushroom wellington, very good. Sidetracks on queens blvd between 45th andby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

The Modern / Restaurant at MoMA - 11 years ago
just went to the Modern the other night, the restaurant at the Museum of Modern Art. Wow! It was very, very good. I can only recommend it, if you are looking for a 'special occasion' restaurant. The food was excellent, as was the service and the room itself. They have a prix-fixe in the dining room, for $98 per person (four courses - this does not include wine). Re: New York City tour - 11 years ago
from the empire state building, just walk a block west and grab the N or Q train downtown to Canal street and you're in chinatown. from there it's really not a far walk to ground zero, or a very quick cab ride.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Great Reasonable NY restaurants - 11 years ago
another good new neighborhood place...Takeshushi, a really yummy, more upscale sushi place on 42nd st between queens blvd and 43rd ave. Prices are higher than the other sushi places around, but it's a lot better at the same time. There is a rumor going around the neighborhood that a chef formerly at Nobu is here, but I don't think that's true.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
