I totally agree with that. A New Yorker has the patience, but would rather not use it if they can just J walk it. A New Yorker can take a blow for a cab or maybe a seat on the bus.

I just got back from NYC, I live in California, L.A. and the one way you can tell a tourist in NY is they are the only one standing on a curb side waiting for the "don't walk" sign to turn green and crossing the street looking amazed that your still dodging taxi's as the honk there way through. Peds DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT-A-WAY!!!

Dude, please, New Yorker know how to walk their own streets. It's not about the crosswalk signals, it's about where the traffic is. When the light turns red is when you walk, normally the crosswalk sign doesnt turn for a good 5 ot 10 seconds after, what a waste of time.

Actually, Nicole, in NYC people DO have the right of way.

In NYC law, if you hit someone in your car who is J-walking, it is still your fault.

Sorry, in NYC the human is mightier than the car.
