I'm sure you could google pastrami to see exactly how it's made. I don't know anyone who does it themself. It's a cooked, spiced beef that's sold in Jewish-style delis. Traditionally, it's served as a sandwich on rye bread, with mustard. That's it! No complicated recipe. Though it's also pretty delicious served on a Reuben sandwich -- slices of rye bread, topped with sauerkraut, pastrami (or corned beef), and tons of melted Swiss cheese. It's yummy, but you need to have a defibrillator handy.

Mmmm Devoured one yesterday at 2nd Ave or 3rd ave
My preference is a more thinly sliced pastrami unlike say Katzs where it's a much thicke variety.

The Second Avenue Deli is a certified-kosher delicatessen in the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York. Since December 17, 2007, it has been located at 162 East 33rd Street (between Lexington Avenue and Third Avenue).
History
The delicatessen originally opened in 1954 on the southeast corner of Second Avenue and East 10th Street in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan.
It closed briefly following the murder of its founder Abe Lebewohl, a survivor of The Holocaust, during a robbery on March 4, 1996. As of October 2009, the crime remains unsolved....

ok, it's not the typical deli like 2nd avenue or Katz, but Oxley's Carvery is definately a great sandwich shop worth a visit. It's on Mott Street near Spring Street, 202 Mott.
