Where is a decent place in Midtown (let's say between 7th ave and Madison Ave, and between 47th and 60th streets) where I can get a nice birthday cake that doesn't cost me a fortune???

well actually i dont live in new york or america for that matter but i know some one who does and she will be able to tell me where there are graet places for cakes between those areas you gave so when i email her tonight i will email you back tomoz and give you the details ok.
