Harlem accommodation & safety

Posted by Jess Nutella
Hi,
I've just reserved accommodation for a place on 313 West 136th Street New York, NY 10030 between Frederick Douglass Blvd & Edgecombe Ave (Allie's Inn). I don't know why it didn't occur to me before this but I'm wondering what the area and closest station would be like in terms of safety for a tourist? Also are there any places I must try for food around that area? (I love food!)
Jess Nutella.

Thanks askanewyorker. smiling smiley I love all sorts of food, including spicy. I don't have a favourite cuisine, just anything that is full of flavour. I like traditional and exotic flavours e.g. just tried Armenian food for the first time a few weeks ago and it was delicious! I definitely want to have some soul food while I'm staying in Harlem. I've heard that Sylvia's a great place? Do you recommend any places in particular?
