I'm a British citizen looking to transfer with work from the London to New York. I'll be working in Hoboken, NJ.
I need advice as to the best areas to live. I've been to NY many times, but insight from those that live there would be helpful. What I'm looking for in and area I've tried to list below:
- I want a reasonably high standard of living
- Nearby to the nightlife / club / bar scene, restaurants etc.
- Easy commute to hoboken
- High standard 1 bed doorman serviced (towerblock) apartments ($3-4k month)
- Walkable to amentites
- Nice neighbourhood
- Park of some sort near enough to run around
My thoughts are Chelsea / West Village areas. Any thoughts on particular residential development blocks, how to commute to Hobroken without car, or indeed any opinions much appreciated!
Thanks!

well, yes, you're on the right track thinking west side, for sure. I was thinking as I read this that the west village would be perfect. And, there is a PATH train there as well, which would take you to Hoboken. I'm not sure of the exact schedule or route, but I am sure there must be a PATH train to Hoboken. yes, see this: [www.panynj.gov]
either the christopher st or 9th st. station.
