Hi

I have looked up the timetable etc

would it be best to arrange my tickets once in town or would it be prudent to book in advance.

basically i will be in town 7 day before i have to train it to washington, are ticket hard to get.

There are two options on Amtrak. The Northeast Regional service, which takes 3.5 to 4 hours, and the Acela, which takes less than 3 hours and costs about $100 more each way. If you already know your schedule, you're better off buying your tickets sooner, as the prices go up nearer the date.

When you're on the www.amtrak.com site, the stations you want are NYP (New York Penn Station) and WAS (Washington Union Station).

Consider MegaBus (A Scottish Company) and Bolt (Owned by Greyhound). Both bus companies serve NYC to Washington's Union Station.
