Antique shopping

Hi. I am from the UK and will be in Manhattan for just one day the week after next. I know there is a "diamond district" etc. etc. but is there an antique district? As I am very short on time it would make sense to go to one specific area rather than trying to fly around Manhattan. I am ending my day at 5.30pm with a visit to the 9/11 memorial. Many thanks.

There really is not an antique district per se. We do have many stores that specialize in antiques...Below 14th St on Broadway are a bunch of stores. But one of my faorites is Demolition Depot. Very cool in Harlem.

There's a small district that's called the Manhattan Art and Antiques Center on 2nd Ave/56th St. I've walked by there many times but haven't stopped in. Looking at the list of galleries on their web site, it appears that there are dozens of vendors.

Also, I've visited Sadigh Gallery on 5th Ave/31st St to view their ancient artifacts. Interesting items from all over the world! They even have mummified animals, a sarcophagus, meteorites, etc.
