From The Times:

It’s not too late for you and your sweetheart to tour the sewage-eating digester eggs Tuesday.

The city’s Department of Environmental Protection has been overwhelmed by demand for the Valentine’s Day tour of the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Brooklyn. But they have added a second tour at 1 p.m., and the plant’s manager, Jim Pynn, said on Monday afternoon that there was still plenty of space.

“I think we will be able to welcome whoever shows up tomorrow,” he said.

The highlight of the tour, which includes a lecture on the history of sewage in New York City, is the trip to the top of the 133-foot-high steel egg-shaped digester tanks, where the walkway commands a view of the skylines of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. There is also a glass window into the eggs, Mr. Pynn said, where canoodlers “can actually see the bubbling activity of the digestion process taking place.”

Also, everyone gets a Hershey’s Kiss.

Those interested in joining the fun are urged to contact the Department of Environmental Protection at events@dep.nyc.gov.

The plant is at 329 Greenpoint Avenue, not far from the Greenpoint Avenue stop on the G train.

I've done this tour, and highly recommend it. Here's a link to The Times article:
