Looking for WEIRD stuff

Regular visitors to NYC looking for the out of the ordinary places/things - such as the Whispering Gallery in Grand Central or the Audio Tunnel in Central Park. Are there other things off the beaten path? Even urban legends. We're not into the touristy stuff but prefer the oddball and unusual. Any suggestions?

I went and did something a bit weird on Saturday night.
Went to a burlesque show at Galapagos ARt Space in Dumbo (brooklyn).
It's a great space and the show was entertaining, just wish they didn't take so many breaks in between acts.

they have it every saturday night. Get there early, I'd say by 9:45, if you want a seat.

Galapagos also features a Soviet themed cabaret on Friday nights. It's quite fun, there is a mix of acts such as Aeriel performers, burlesque dancers, contortionists and singers all dressed in Soviet themed outfits. After the show the party continues, and most people dance on the actual stage of Galapagos. ><
