Hi,

I will stay at Chelsea Interantional Hostel on 251 W 20th St. Do you have any recommendations how to get there from the JFK. Are there direct bus or train connections or would you recommend to take a taxi? What time will it take approximately and what does it cost?

Thanks

You can take the airtain, see the link.
take the airtrain to the E subway line at jamaica.
You hotel is on 20th St between 7th and 8th Ave.
Take the E to 23rd St, which will leave you at 8th Ave and 23rd St, just a short walk from your hotel. This will cost you $5 for the airtrain, then $2 for the E train ride, buy tickets from a vending machine, you can't miss them. I'd give this a good hour.

Or, take the bus: [www.nyairportservice.com]
take it to Penn Station, which is at 34th St and 7th/8th Ave. Take a short cab ride from there, or you can even get on that same E train down one stop to the 23rd St stop. A cab would only be about 5 dollars, not much more. The bus is $15. The time it takes depends on the time of day and traffic, but give it an hour.
Viel Spass in New York!
Taxi from JFK to anywhere in Manhattan is $45.00 (tip and toll extra).
