Good move Grant, either choice will be a hit. The village would be a bit more interesting as far as a neighborhood experience and walking around...Soho is more shopping...
The Broken Kilometer, 1979 would be fun to check out in Soho...for the kids
393 W Broadway (Broome Street and Spring Street)
New York, NY 10012 40.7243 -74.0022
Another idea Grant is to see another borough. Easy and quick to do. I'd suggest as an icebreaker to investigate Williamsburg Brooklyn. A vibrant neighborhood for the young and hip. Take the L train @ Union Square to Bedford Ave the first stop in Brooklyn a 10 min ride from US. Here you'll find all sorts of cool shops and restaurants. Brooklyn Industries would go over big with the kids, cool urban clothing right there at the exit of subway. Do you like Thai food? Check out Sea on North 6th short walk.
Teddy's Bar & Grill short walk... another favorite far from the glitter and sounds of Time Sqaure
96 Berry St
(between 8th St & 9th St)
Fun thread. Broken Kilometer etc..

Nothing like the Earth Room
Don't forget Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge, great experience, the Highline, very cool, Union Square... walk down University to Washington Square Park, highly entertaining.
Freemans for dinner ...get there @ 6:15 very cool.
Grant,first time to NYC?
