Cant decide what time is best to go up? Day time for views or night time?

go up just before sunset. I allways did and you get the best of both. Day slowely turning into night, seeing all the lights in the city and the beautiful colors in the sky.

I prefer Top of the Rock for the daytime/sunset views. During daylight you can see Central Park (which at night is just a black rectangle), and of course you can see the Empire State Bldg. from the Top of the Rock. If you can do both observatories, save the Empire State for very late at night to avoid the long lines.
