HI all

We live in Brisbane, australia and really want to experience a white xmas and thoguht it would be good to go to New York for xmas but dont know where to start. I mean as we dont know anyone at all there is there places that you can have xmas dinner and are we garanteed snow i mean does it snow every year. Also as our budget will be pretty tight we would like to know the best area to stay? We will probably want to stay in a hostel but not sure which area is the best for transport etc... Any help woould be appreciated.

New York rarely has a white Xmas, most of the snow falls in February. \

Marea is right. If you're looking for snow in December, NYC is a bad choice. You have to head north of here. Think Vermont, or even better Montreal or Quebec City.

We do get snow, but predominantly from the second week of January through the beginning of March.
