I know that sounds weird given the hood, but I just moved into a cheap room here and I'm looking for low-budget food shopping, especially produce & organic stuff.

So far I've found a great place about a mile southeast (the amazing "Po Wing Hong" supermarket on Elizabeth, just above Canal); and the cheapest organic produce seems to be at Earth Matters on the LES (Ludlow just below Houston). But I'm wondering if anybody knows of other food stores that are closer to me, but lower than the Dean & Deluca or Gourmet Garage price range.

I would really appreciate any thoughts!
