It sounds like the library is not the best resourse to use public computers to look for jobs/apartments.

Does anyone have recommendations of where to go to use the internet on a public computer-- are there internet cafes? If so, what is the cost?

When I used them it cost 1 dollar for half an hour....a friend told me that the Times Square branch is still open!
