Dear New Yorkers

I am moving to NYC from London, working in midtown.

So far I have seen pleasant apartments in the following areas:

Washington Heights: Riverside Drive/157th
Harlem: Convent/151st
Fort Greene: Adelphi St
Bay Ridge: various

What do you all think would be the best? I am single (male)and so schools etc are not important. I prefer a place that does not feel too suburban.
