NYC is poppin I lived there for 12 years then moved to Cali. To be honest with you I like NY much more than here, its like missing a part of me i cant wait untill I go back there. Ive been in Cali for 4 years now and going to Crzyparties and everything. But still nothing like NY and the people of NYC. Scard on my heart.

Disagree. In order to be a REAL NYer you HAVE to be born & raised here (that means went to school here for grammer & high school). Just bc you moved here at 25 does NOT make you a NYer.

As for the block, do you really think people know what you mean? The blocks refers to knowing EVERYONE on it & acutally hanging out on it. Very few people seem to know this today. In fact, a lot of people don't even know the people in their building.

i am from switzerland, where it is really beautiful, born and raised, where i live right now... but never have i felt so *real &
true*, as when i was standing in your streets... feeling your bump... your flow... your you !

have learnt by heart more travel books about you, than i have learnt medical terms during my studies (and there were some...) - first
time i visited you back in 1993... it felt more like coming home than anything else...

am i real ? no one could tell... new york is made of everybody who lives in it, who loves it and who hates it...

EXACTLY!!! I just moved down here to florida not willing, but had no other choice cuz of parents....but yea, exactly I've only lived here for one month now, and everytime I say "the city" everyones like which one? Miami? lol, I'm so used to just saying...aight, lets go to "the city" but its so much diffrent down here....and theres no special "block" down here, most of it is gated in communites with friends and family like 20mins off a parkway or as they say down here "interstate." yo wazup son! ima new yorka from brooklyn. and right now im in florida and its fregin boring. thers just nothing to do! no where to go, and no one to be with. its incredible. i thought fl was better, but now i know my big red apple is da place to be. its da bomb! peace yous new yorkers. speard some love. nyc will always be in my heart. You want to know what a real New Yorker is at heart? I was born in Puerto Rico, raised in NY till I was 12; taken to Puerto Rico at 12 till I got married and settled at Florida for 3 years; and back now to Puerto Rico because of my family ties........ but, babes......... it has been 23 years I've nto been to NY and I just dream about the day I can return and go down memory lane. New York is my hometown ! It is the IT place for me! In fact, I am planning to go this November and just cant wait ! !:! ! ! !

I think that topic that Christopher M. Santiago is talking about is a really interesting. The way that he was talking about "the block" really got me thinking! To be Frank, I myself do want to move one day to New York. That is my biggest goal that hopfully one day that I could forfill. And get to know that feeling of coming from "the block"!!

Whats a REAL New Yorker? A REAL New Yorker doesn't have tu be born here in NYC, But has to respect NYC, and represent there state and city! Theres many New Yorkers out there that were born and raised in NYC, and just want to go to a hotter place, like Florida. In your cityof NYC everybody has a special place called the block. Now the block is were all of your friends and family are. etc. The block is a place to relax, have block party's, and for just plan old chillen. Now, EVERY New Yorker knows about there block. Just think of the block as your second heart! When you have NO where to go, and no one to see, just go to your block, and one of your New Yorken's will take you in with open arms...So what I'm trying to say is that, "It's not your mind that makes you THINK your a New Yorken, It's your heart letting you KNOW that your a New Yorken".......
