a little bit of everyone is in NY

My idea of what a new yorker is:

I think it is hard to say what a New Yorker is. As the line at the top of the page says, there are 188 different nationalities here (and I'm sure people from all 50 US states), so it is hard to say what a real new yorker is. ANYONE! Everyone from every place is represented here. It is someone who is exposed to and accepts diversity like no one else in any other state in the US, it is someone who knows the hassles, the headaches, the beauty, and excitement of city life like no one else can. It is someone who goes to other (even major, big cities) places and asks "where are all the people??" and "It's nice here, but it's not New York". It is someone eager to see the rest of the world, but always glad to come back "home" to New York, regardless of its noise, its restlessness. I think living in New York "spoils" any other place for you....after you've experienced it, nothing else will quite live up to it.

Dear Kori,
This e-mail is coming from Cali. I moved here about 2 years ago. I agree with you there are alot of people from alot of different places. That is what makes New York so very special. When you get to New York your first time, you can feel the richness in diversity. Everything is coming at you from everywhere!! And when you think you have fallen into a rut, there is always a new place to go or a new person to meet. There are not enough hours hours in a day to get an overview of New York. New York has a very special place in my heart!!! I plan on moving back within the year!!!! When I first came to Cali, I came here for for relaxation and then decided to stay awhile longer. My definition of a New Yorker is someone who is very flexable, internally and externally! He/She knows where the wonderful places are to go eat, meet new people and to have fun. Someone who is dedicaded to their profession! All in All, I guess you can say I miss New York! New York you are in my Heart and Always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Kori wrote:

I'll start off by saying that I'm born and raised in Boston, and yes I love the Red Sox and despise the Yankees. But that's not the point of this message. The point is that i have family in New York and I absolutely love the city. I still love Boston more but New York is where i plan to go to college and where i plan to live in a few years.

I love New Yorkers, and so do all of us bostonians, but the one thing I dislike is the arrogance of your average new yorker which you actually gave an example of. I hate how some people's mindset in New York is that if it's not New York, it sucks. Granted most people don't think this way, but what is it with you. There are plenty of other places to see. There are a lot of New Yorkers in Boston, i'm glad that they realize that you can find other great cities.
