4th of July fireworks-where to view?

Posted by annacap
We'll be staying in the Tribeca area on 4th of July weekend. Last year, we found it difficult to get to the fireworks site. Are there any other areas in Manhattan (not necessarity Tribeca) that we can go to in order to see the fireworks, such as rooftops, restaurants, bars, etc.? Thank you for your help.

View Macy's July 4th Fireworks In Style
For July 4th 2011, the best views will be from Manhattan's West Side below 59th Streets and choice spots along the New Jersey waterfront -- any spot with a good view of the sky above the Hudson River. See our full list of best places to see the Macy's July 4th fireworks in New York (complete with photos).

Keep in mind that the public viewing areas get extremely crowded, so arrive early (by 5 pm if you want a decent spot) and bring chairs or a blanket to spread out and whatever other supplies you need to enjoy the wait (water, food, iPods, etc.). Large bags and containers will be subject to security checks.
