Le Rivage [www.lerivagenyc.com]
on 46th St between 8th and 9th Ave. It's pretty much a pre-theater dinner place.
It was very good (french restaurant) and it cost just about $140 for the two of us. Get the duck, it was super tasty. The place was packed; definately make a reservation. We made a reservation on Wednesday night, for Saturday, and we got the last reservation open for the 6:15 time (had an 8:00 show).

Here is a great french restaurant in Fort Greene, Brooklyn:
Cafe Paulette on S. Elliott Place
[cafepaulette.com]

I got a gift certificate and tried it out the other night, and I will be back!
The staff is all French - and all very welcoming - great service.
The neighborhood is great and the restaurant itself is cozy and cute.
The food was excellent.
And Spike Lee was there, a few tables away.

Try it! It's easy to get to from the city (near Barclay's Center) and worth the trip to Brooklyn.

$150 all in for the two of us.

The Blue Ribbon Brasserie is a good choice. It's in SoHo on the west side. Food is super delicious: I had the duck and it was awesome and friend had fried chicken, super good. Went last night: $165 all in for two people.

The area known as Little Brazil is just up the way from the theatre district. We have fond memories of Brazil, Brazil. The first time we loved it so much for dinner (they have prix fixe which we never tried) that we went back for caipirinhas afterward, perfect on a warm night. We took family on another trip and they enjoyed it too. Again going back for drinks, and that time music afterwards.
