Hi to everybody,
as I am coming to NYC in dec (from germany), I have booked an apartment via MetroDwellings LLC online, via an agent called Veronica. Now I am getting a bit scared whether I get cheated or is it a legit one?
The apartment I suppose to stay is on the 326 West 89th Street and I suppose to pick up the keys of the apartment at the 200 W 86thStreet (between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave).

Any useful opinion?
Thx, Thomas

Dear Thomas,

We stayed there, it s a very nice place, the neibourghood is amazing, but be carefull with Veronica, she wasn't very nice with us, when she got the money, she didn't have patience for us any more.
I would recommande the place otherwise

Hello Veronica,

Just a brief note to thank you for your assistance in finding a rental while in New York City. The "Rose" on 88th worked out perfectly for us! We had a great time in the City and will certainly be in touch when in need of accommodations in the future.

Thanks again for all you help..........

We stayed at two apartments in the same building through Metrodwellings in December, 2008 with our extended family. Metrodwellings is a great proffessionally run vacation service, that was reccommended to us by our friends who stayed there the year before.
They have apartments in the best parts of the city and the apartments were even better than advertised. They were clean and comfortable in the center of evertyhing, with great transportation nearby to anywhere else in the city.
Veronica was very easy to work with when making the reservation and then when we arrived, and the property manager took care of us when we needed anything or had any questions. He even took care of us when we had a late flight out so we didn't need to drag our luggage around the city. I would definitely come back here the next time we come to New York.

Metrodwellings LLC is a professional management company. They advertise on Homeaway.com on 3 sites.# 220757, #208179, and #177275. Homeaway screens listings and reimburses renters up to $5000 if a listing isn't legit.
Homeaway also warns travelers to never pay in advance by wire transfer. They advise advance payments with credit cards because it offers the best protection. Metrodwellings only accepts credit card deposits.

Just a follow up to our visit in NYC from May 16-23rd, in your apt
5R W. 71st. Just as the 2 bdrm apt last November was
perfect, so was this 1 bdrm. My daughters and I enjoyed feeling
as if we were residents, not tourists. Your location is simply
outstanding. It's so easy to two subway lines, Central Park,
Riverside Park, moderately priced dining, etc. We will be sure to
stay with you again the next time we come to NYC as well! Thanks,
Elizabeth

That's right. Over the years (on another board) I've seen many people using multiple identities "Outted" once the board admin added visible IP addesses.
I can still not determine from the earlier posts if Metro Dwellings is a real business or not. I am stressing as I have booked and paid a deposit for two weeks in June, and my credit card has been charged. I find the check in procedure a little bizarre, (collection from concierge at 200 W 86th and final payment in cash to obtain keys prior to viewing the apartment). Is there anyone out there that can help me out?

I am a bit concerned over my booking with Metro Dwellings in NYC for 33 West 71st St. They have our deposit, we arrive on Oct. 8th but I cannot get Veronica on the phone (only voice mail not returned for 2 days) and I cannot get them to respond to an e-mail. In my opinion this is no way to operate a business and I am getting concerned over a scam, but they've gone to a lot of trouble just to collect some one-time deposits. Does anyone know anything more about these people? They are listed on all the vacation home web sites.

Hi all,
Dan tried to contact us over the Rosh Hashana Holidays and we were closed. So he panicked. We have since connected, both by phone and e-mail and everything is under control.
I am happy to say that we have been hosting a diverse crossection of people in our furnished apartments, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, for many years. We have had many Opera singers who come for the season, actors for the City's theatres. as well as professors on their sabbaticals at the various universities. We have had countless couples who come for fertilty treatments from Mexico and South America a few weeks before and after their treatments, and are now happy parents. We are particularly proud to have been able to provide them with a comfortable oasis to come home to every night. We are rated Excellent by Tripadvisor. Please look at our website [metrodwellings.com]
all the best Erwin and Veronica

I would just like to retract a former statement I made in haste concerning Metro Dwellings. It turns out the owners were not reachable because they were observing the Jewish New Year. I can't say enough good things about Veronica and the staff at Metro Dwellings. They arrange a smooth, no hassle arrival, and offer properties that are in a wonderful location with no misrepresentation at all. I strongly recommend anyone seeking a vacation apartment rental in New York City to contact them first. They are wonderful.
