I went to Chisam 6 weeks ago. It was my first experience at a Dominican hair salon. I liked that they used rollers first because after that it didn't seem like much work to blow it out. I'm sure their products were good too. But their professionalism (including the owner) left something to be desired. They barely greeted me when i walked in, the tech who permed me just started working on my hair without so much as a hello. Is this normal DR culture?? Im actually looking for another Dominican salon in Jacksonville closer to my home on the southside. Know of any others?

The best Dominican Salon in Richmond Virginia is Christy's Beauty Salon.

I am from New York and have the luxury of having tons of Dominican Hair Salon's at practically every corner. I come to Richmond Virginia once a year and when I am in need of some hair care (my hair is natural but they also care for permed hair), I trust no other "Dominican style" salon in Richmond but Christy's. The staff straightens my hair perfectly and when I want to style my hair curly they also have Deva products to moisturize my curls back to life. The salon is huge unlike the other Dominican style salon's nearby that are cramped and tiny. I did not have to wait long at all as a walk-in and the prices are very reasonable (20 bucks for a wash and set.) I also got a manicure (10) and pedicure (15) to while I was doing my hair so it allowed me to save tons of time.

On Tue and Wed the wash and set price is $15.

Where's the salon at?

I'm from Newark, NJ originally and the salon I fell in love with is called Nitas right on Bloomfield ave. It's in Bloomfield but it's right on the ave where all the dealerships are at. Make sure Sophia does your hair. She's the only stylist actually. Plus the eyebrow threading is great!
