I am trully gutted, I visited NYC last summer and am a HUGE SATC fan, my husband and I trawled the streets trying to find Carrie's steps
Problem was I was 4 months pregnant and trying to deal with 40degree heat and could not face another tour bus
Oh well, maybe next time ......

I went to NYC in June. We took the bus tour and it was on Perry Street. I think the address was 66th. The owners of the building had a chain across the stoop so that no one could walk onto it. The Magnolia Bakery is also in the area. They had a bodyguard at the door and he would not let a crowd in the bakery. The cupcakes were delicious. I liked the orange colored one. The icing was fantastic.

Actually, in the episode called "Lights, Camera, Relationship" Carrie is showing Berger a check she got from her publisher, and it is addressed to her at 245 E 73rd Street, New York NY 10071. That's how you know her address.

That is supposed to be her address but the exterior is actually filmed at 66 Perry Street.

Actual address for the outside location is Perry Street NY.

The lady who owns the premises is very feisty and will shout at you.

But as long as you are on the public highway, nothing she can do. Ignore her and take your pictures.

the apartment is not real...it was built in a studio...sorry!

yeah the apartment was but the exterior wasn't, which is what we're all dying to see- carrie's stoop!

I don't remember which website I saw it on, but there is an official "Sex & The City Tour". Look it up, and check it out!

I just used Google Maps (http://maps.google.com) and 238 East 72nd Street New York, points to a 2 way street. Carrie Bradshaw lived on a narrow one way street going from EAST to WEST.

I read that on the show she lived on East 73rd and Madison (NARROW) and the actual exterior was 66 Perry in the West Village. I used Google maps and it resembles the exterior of her 3 storey walk-up!

It was a sound stage that actually exited onto the street so it resembled a "coffee shop" but it actually was a set.

My wife and I were in NYC for Thanksgiving 2006 and on Saturday morning we went down to Greenwich Village to a bookstore and ended up wandering around. We went to the Magnolia Bakery (because my stepdaughter told my wife that it had been in SatC) and then to a small park (Abington Square) and ate our cupcakes. One of the locals told my wife about how they used a house around there for Carrie's House. So we walked over and found it. If I could post the picture you would see it. I compared the pictureto the scene in The SatC Movie where Carrie moves back into her apt. It's the same except the removed the street light in front. It's just west and south of the park but I don't remember the name of the street.
