there is also the huge Easy Internet Cafe at times square on 42nd ST

I would definitely go with EasyInternet. I used it a lot when I first moved here and before I had a computer. The rates or good depending on when you go and you can use a password if you don't use all the time you buy at once and come back some other time. Only bad things: no bathroom (but McD's is next door and theirs is remarkably clean for NY) and no USB ports.
