I will be landing in Newark at 7:30 am on Thanksgiving morning. What is the best way to rush into Manhattan and catch some of the parade?

NYC Transit will provide regular weekday service throughout the city, although for crowd safety, five stations noted below will be closed, and the NYPD may close some additional subway entrances near the parade. Beginning at 10 a.m., to prevent overcrowding conditions, trains will NOT stop at these five stations. Wall St 4 or 5, City Hall R, Chambers St A or C, World Trade Center E or Fulton St 4, 5, A or C.

These five stations are the best way to get to the parade route:
• 1 to South Ferry
• 2 or 3 to Wall St or Fulton St
• 4, 5 or 6 to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall
• J to Chambers St
• R to Rector St

Hi! Although helpful... the previous instructions will not aid you in traveling from Newark Airport (which is in New Jersey and not a part of NYC Transit) to Herald Square (Macy's). Please disregard them as you will not be in NYC when you arrive!

Here are the exact directions for 11/27/14 starting at 7:45 AM. This schedule will put you in Herald Square in about an hour!

From Newark Liberty International Airport:
-Take the AirTrain Newark light rail from your terminal to the Newark Airport Railroad Station.
-Then take the Northeast Corridor train towards New York Penn Station (please note that there's also a Newark Penn Station in NJ- don't get off there!).
-Exit Penn Station (NY) and walk one block (from 34th and 7th to 34th and 6th) to Herald Square. *As soon as you leave Penn Station, you'll see the crowds!

I recommend that you enter the following into Google Maps so that you'll have a copy for yourself to alter times, etc. There are also alternative methods for getting there if you leave Newark after 8 AM.
Starting: Newark Airport NJ
Ending: Herald Square NYC

Have fun!
