6 days in NYC

Hi all!

My boyfriend and i are going to new york in september for 6 days. Neither of us have been before and just do not know where to begin planning as there is so much to see and do!

So far we've noted:
- helicopter tour
- rent a boat in central park
- top of the rock (instead of the empire state)
- open bus tour
- grand central
- ny public library
- statten island ferry
- brooklyn bridge
- ground zero
- times square

Are there any nice, reasonably priced restaurants for lunch or dinner around any of those areas? We both like seafood. Also, i would quite like to see harlem - is there anything we can go to specifically there?

There are 25,000 restaurants in New York, so you'll have no trouble finding great places to eat. Have a look at menupages.com. You can cull the list by neighborhood, cuisine, ratings and price. Menupages is easy to use, but I prefer the reviews on yelp.com because I feel they're mostly written by frequent diners. You can also find lists of recommended bargain restaurants in New York Magazine's and Time Out New York's web sites.

Don't forget The Highline an elevated railroad railway turned into a spectacular
Park. Start at 30th and 10th ave and walk down more interesting this way. it ends on 12th St Chelsea Market is around the corner
Also I love Rooslvelt.Islands with its FDR Memorial excellent views of the city.
You take a tram over to the island which is behind Bloomingdalessmiling smiley if you like candy stop into Dylans.
As Oracle stated Restraunts are everywhere
For excellent people watching and tasty food The Coffee Shop at Union Square is pretty cool There's a farmers market around square Mon Wed Fri Sat

When in Grand Central Station be sure to go to the Whispering Gallery. [www.sonicwonders.org]
It's very cool.

What do you like to do in your own home town? That will help us direct you to something different to do in NYC

The weather that time of year is great, and maybe a ride out to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens is a good idea, and before or after go to the Brooklyn Art Museum. I did this yesterday and it was a great afternoon. Then you could head over to to the area around Barclay's Center, a pretty good neighborhood to wander around in. There's a restaurant over there called Cafe Paulette which is delicious.
