We all do it but apparently scientists have now discovered that sitting down is bad for us. Which of course begs the question as to whether there is anything left that might not be hazardous to our health. Drinking soda, smoking, headphones, cell phones, the list goes on, and now sitting!

“Prolonged sitting is not what nature intended for us,” says Dr. Camelia Davtyan, clinical professor of medicine and director of women’s health at the UCLA Comprehensive Health Program.

“The chair is out to kill us,” says James Levine, an endocrinologist at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Well tell that to your boss as you stand around the office all day. Not sitting is just not practical. Imagine standing  on a trans -Atlantic flight, or through a Dentist’s visit or joining friends for a stand - up dinner or movie? It’s bad enough sitting through a boring play but what about standing through one. Maybe okay for sleep walkers but this health warning really has no legs whatsoever.

Let’s face it we all sit and it seems unlikely that any of us will quit anytime soon. This isn’t smoking. You can’t just quit sitting but then again I suppose we can cut down. Indeed, this maybe a case of standing up for our right’s or getting a new seating plan.

Unfortunately, a good deal of data suggests that we should spend less time sitting down. After all the human body was designed for walking, and people did a whole lot of that for millenniums. Yet, in more recent times we may have been sitting too much. Americans now sit for more than half of their waking hours which certainly puts a whole new meaning on ‘take a seat.’

Sadly experts believe ”the sitting position exerts forces on the body that it’s not built to accommodate,” Davtyan says, and so, as comfy as it may seem, couch potato-hood can lead to a host of woes, including poor circulation and assorted aches and pains. It can also make you fat but is it really as dangerous as smoking? From now on just sit at your own risk but at least take a stand when they come to take your chair away!

Standing at the centre of a crowd, wearing a  skull-cap and holding a mobile phone, this is Michael Adebolajo on the  anniversary of 9/11 in 2009.

Britain’s Mail On Sunday are reporting that he was among hundreds of young Muslims who gathered outside Harrow Central Mosque in North-West London, to ‘defend’ it  against a planned joint protest by the English Defence League and Stop the  Islamisation of Europe group. Let us be clear the EDF are also a group of thugs but two wrongs do not make a right.

Even though that event was called off – and  despite the mosque’s pleas for peace from the Muslim youths – they vented their  anger on the police instead.

Officers were pelted with bricks, bottles and  fireworks. There were ten arrests. Sadly Michael Adebolajo got away that time and returned to the streets this week to behead a soldier.

Search engines such as Google and Yahoo have been asked to play their part to shut down hate-filled sites inciting extremism in the wake of the Woolwich attack on a British Soldier on the streets of London. We whole heartedly agree. The photograph you see is of an Islamic Cleric Anjum Chaudhry. This vile specimen of a human says most Muslims would agree with what the man believed to be the Woolwich attacker was filmed saying moments after the death of Lee Rigby. Oh really? Well Chaudhry should know because the young man behind him in this photograph is someone who after listening to Chaudhry’s diatribe against the British and American systems years ago, was inspired him to take to the streets earlier this week and behead a British soldier. He is the same man who Chaudhry says most Muslims would agree with.

Would it not be a good idea if Google could block Chaudhry, and his like? Network Television meanwhile on both sides of the Atlantic should refuse to continue to give Chaudhry the time of day. Why do we need his opinion? The young man in this picture once listened to him, and as a result was inspired to kill a soldier. Chaudhry is scum! A dangerous, evil and vile excuse of a human being who the British Government should deport.  Oh yes they have tried but of course he has his human rights, and is a beneficiary of the British welfare system to boot! This man is extremely dangerous and his level of evil intent will one day be revealed. In the meantime social networking sites should help to silence him.

Thousands of videos including his which help to radicalize impressionable young men are easily available on YouTube all over the world. They go unchecked and inspire a generation of haters and killers. The fat cats who own Google, Yahoo, Twitter, and their like may not think it has anything to do with them but it does. Want to raise a call to arms from one jihadist to another thousands of miles apart and Skype will facilitate. It is an outrage. These multi-billion dollar companies are not just creating zombies and slaves to machines but also monsters who kill and use these tools to help promote their twisted ideology.

Within hours of the execution of Drummer  Lee Rigby, 25, vile messages praising the attack and encouraging further outrages appeared on Twitter and the 140 character social media service did nothing. We say shame on you. British Police meanwhile have seized computers since Wednesday’s atrocity and are still investigating if the two fanatics who beheaded the soldier were indoctrinated by online terror videos. Michael  Adebolajo, 28, was radicalised by a banned extremist group whose members use the  internet to recruit impressionable young men. Search engines and social media websites say  they rely on members of the public to ‘flag up’ incendiary material. But critics (of which we are one) have called for more investment to be used to stop the spread of radical  videos. We say you earn so much money, you should police yourselves. And before we hear cries from the civil rights campaigners be advised: A person should be free to walk the streets of any city in the world without being beheaded. Please save your voices for an outcry of this diabolical act of inhumanity. If social media is being used to brainwash and corrupt a generation of monsters then the people running these outlets should take responsibility and help keep us safe.

The head of Saudi Arabia’s religious police has declared that Twitter is an appalling waste of time, mind, and soul. O give us a break, you have so many other issues there that Tweeter should not be your major concern. Sheikh Abdul Latif Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh mused that anyone who uses Twitter “has lost this world and his afterlife.”  Sadly we never heard such a strong reaction from this man when it came to terror acts on 9/11 or more recently in Boston but Twitter censorship seems to be a priority for The Kingdom of Saudi.

It may well be that the Sheikh’s biggest concern is that so many of his people are now enthusiastically posting uncensored thoughts on Twitter and his regime is losing control. Maybe as the head of the religious police he should learn to pray more? Or what about building some churches in the region?

Saudi Arabia is said to be the fastest-growing tweeting nation. While it is hard not to disagree with the fact that Tweeting is a complete waste of time, it is hard to take anything seriously from a nation that still finds amputation for theft an acceptable practice and even has problems with a woman driving a car alone. You have many issues in Saudi Arabia Sheikh al-Sheikh and sadly it will take more than 140 characters to fix them. Tweet that!

Take a close look at the photograph you see. It is someone who is known as Kai the hatchet wielding hitchhiker who shot to fame after appearing on a news broadcast.
Now authorities in New Jersey and surrounding States are hunting for him after a man was found dead last Monday.

Kai’s real name is Caleb Lawrence McGillvary and he has been charged with murder. He is also considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Authorities say that on Tuesday McGillvary had written that he had been “drugged [and] raped” in a post on his Facebook page. “What would you do?,” he asked his 2,500 followers. A warrant for his arrest has now been issued but Police say his whereabouts are ‘unknown.’ A $5000 reward is being offered for any information leading to his arrest.

The investigation began after Joseph Galfy was found dead in his home in Clark, New Jersey and an autopsy determined that Galfy had died as a result of blunt force trauma,

McGillvary received attention after giving a vivid account of how he used a hatchet to stop an assault in Fresno, California, in February earlier this year. Giving his name only as Kai, the 24-year-old told reporters that he had been hitching a ride with a man who he said had deliberately driven into a pedestrian.

McGillvary said the driver had then got out of the car and attacked a woman passerby. At that point, McGillvary said he had reached for his hatchet and intervened, stopping the attack. Why he was carrying a hatchet still seems to be a mystery.

McGillvary has also risen to web stardom after appearing on Jimmy Kimmel’s show  and thousands of followers flocked to a Facebook page under the name Caleb Kai Lawrence Yodhehwawheh, which is said to be updated by the hitchhiker.

Union County prosecutor Theodore J Romankow said McGillvary had cut his hair in an attempt to alter his appearance. He was last seen at a light rail station in Haddonfield, New Jersey, area,  If you see him call 9/11 this man is dangerous and may very well be in the New York area now.

There was a time when O.J. Simpson was the talk of the town. Indeed, following his acquittal for murder O.J. had a celebration at Morton’s Steak House in New York and partied on down. His home in recent years however has been a Nevada prison and yesterday he took a stab (no pun intended O.J), at having his kidnapping conviction overturned. Alas, it seems prison commissary food has gotten the better of him.

Bloated and weighing some 270 pounds, the former football star’s prison term has made him balloon. Far from being the former healthy sportsman he once was, O.J looks more like a blimp that hovers over a sports stadium. Well at least there is still some connection to sport.

According to friends O.J is now eating junk food in jail and no longer spends much time in the gym. The former Heisman Trophy winner was sentenced to nine to 33 years behind bars but is hoping to convince a judge that his former attorney, Yale Galanter put up an ineffective defense against charges that he engineered an armed confrontation in 2007 at a Vegas hotel room where sports memorabilia collectors had his belongings.

Having infamously beaten the criminal charges of killing his wife, Nicole, and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994, O.J was found to be civilly liable for the killings in 1997. Then came his Nevada hotel heist.

From ” Heisman trophy to Heist” might be a good title for his memoir or maybe “How the gloves might not fit but now the boots on the other foot.” or what about: “You can get away with murder in LA but in Nevada things catch up with you!”

Either way there seems to be just a touch of poetic justice in this story. There is certainly a lot of juice here but still little consolation for the Goldman and Brown families. Let us never forget the real victims here and every time O.J makes a plea for himself it is surely most upsetting for the people who have really suffered.
